Anicka Jones Marshall’s refined expertise, unique skill set, and fiery passion for design, engineering, and construction continue to win over her clients and establish her as a significant talent in the industry.

Anicka graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA with a BA in Civil Engineering in 2000. Though this is an impressive wave to make in a male-dominated industry, she asserts the degree was only a small beginning. She joined national homebuilder, KB Home, as their Sr. Operations Manager where she played an integral role in the New Orleans post-Katrina rebuilding efforts and learned what it takes to run a customer-centered home building and design business.  She went on to become a licensed contractor and her keen eye for excellence consistently opened many doors for her. Through strategic partnership, Marshall put her logistical design talent, engineering aptitude, and construction capacity to good use by taking the lead on a myriad of projects arising in the wake of Hurricane Isaac (2012), The Baton Rouge Great Flood (2016), Laplace and New Orleans East Tornado Outbreaks (2016-2017) and most recently Hurricane Ida (2021).

It was during these difficult times she realized her destiny was not simply about textiles and techniques.  Her calling was to also meet the needs of people.  In order to connect with grassroots efforts, she shared her expertise with nationally recognized non-profits such as Make It Right 9 (founded by actor Brad Pitt), Neighborworks America, and Southern Mutual Help Association - dedicated to helping low to moderate-income families’ purchase their first home.

Her brave, and impressive efforts landed her a a role on HGTV’s highly ranked competition series, “Flipping the Block''.  She quickly gained widespread popularity with her tell-it-like-it-is personality and sharp wit exhibited on air.  The show wrapped with Anicka’s infectious smile ingrained in the heart of the viewers and baby boy number two growing in the womb of this design-build innovator.  In the same year, this trailblazer turned celebrity, became the first African-American female to receive the Millennial Award for her achievements in engineering and construction.

During a time when contractor fraud is widespread, quality work is negotiable, and expertise can be bought before it is earned, Anicka Jones Marshall breaks every mold and pushes back the dark curtain over the era of mediocrity.  With over 20 years of experience in constant critical thinking, problem-solving, reflection, and execution she has mastered the finisher’s balance of grit and grace, and for her design+build revolution, the sky's the limit.
